A basic assumption of human behavior is that people follow happiness and try to avoid pain. Then, why some people seem happy to lurch in their misery, even boasting it as some kind of privilege? Even when steps are taken to improve their lives, they prefer to continue complaining. Fake depression is when somebody desperately wants to get attention, they pretend to have some serious mental illness. We mostly find this sick behavior in the teenagers. They usually post their pictures with captions claiming that they are so tired of their hefty lives and want to end it, but in reality they just want others to take pity on them. As a result, they get some consolation comments, few likes, and a small number of increase

in their followers. This is a very sad state of affairs and is relatively new with the popularity of social media. What these people do not realize or care about is that their posts may cause depression in others or may cause people with depression to become even more hopeless and depressed. This can also make it more difficult for a truly depressed person to receive help.

Depression is a very serious illness that requires proper treatment, support, and intervention by a mental health professional. It is not a badge of honor or a way to get attention. Even faking depression can, at some point, cause the person to actually become depressed. So don’t try to be something you are not, but if you do feel like you are depressed, it is okay to get help.
